Wisdom…”Come and Get It”

Proverbs 9 sets up another contrast between the way of wisdom and the way of folly.  Here is how the proverb begins:

Wisdom has built her house,
She has hewn out her seven pillars;  She has slaughtered her meat,
She has mixed her wine,
She has also furnished her table.  She has sent out her maidens,
She cries out from the highest places of the city, “Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!”
As for him who lacks understanding, she says to him, “Come, eat of my bread
And drink of the wine I have mixed.  Forsake foolishness and live,
And go in the way of understanding.

As I read these verses I had a mental picture of someone who had just prepared a delicious dinner, clanging on the dinner bell shouting, “Come and Get It”.   God does not keep His wisdom to Himself, rather He willingly shares it with those who desire it.  Do we desire wisdom?  Are we willing to say to ourselves and others that we really don’t know the way in which we should go?  Are we willing to state that we need to “come and get it” as it relates to wisdom?  I hope you are.  Turn in to the house of wisdom.  You won’t be disappointed with the accommodations or the food.

In wisdom,
Eric
