Who Was and Is and Is to Come
In Revelation 4 John writes about being caught up into the throne room of heaven. It seems like a pretty amazing place and an amazing sight. At one point John describes four living creatures. Here is what John says that he heard: 8 The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying: “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!” Remember that the book of Revelation is about the revealing of Jesus Christ. I want to think about the phrase, “who was and is and is to come”. That’s a very interesting phrase and it reveals some pretty amazing things about Jesus. That phrase reveals Jesus as eternal. It reveals Him as never being surprised by an upcoming event, never forgetting what happened in the past and yet always being present in today. I have a Savior who is always with me and who has always been here. No one else in my life can say that. I can’t say that about myself. Time holds no bounds on Jesus. He is revealed as the God “who was and is and is to come”. Jesus can meet every need that you have. He can do anything that you need Him to do. He has seen everything that there is to see. I hope you “see” how amazing Jesus is and how that one phrase reveals something amazing about Jesus Christ. Will you live your life in the service of the One who “was and is and is to come”?
