When Death Becomes Life

Paul continues with his amazing discussion of what Christ offers to those who trust in Him. Jesus offers death to sin and yet He offers much, much more.  Let’s read verses 6-11 of Romans 6:  “knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. 10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. 11 Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”  The fact that we are “dead to sin” is a very big deal.  Sin is everyone’s master until Christ frees one from bondage.  But the deal doesn’t stop there.  We are not only dead to sin, but we are ALIVE to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.  We are able to live a life in the power of Christ.  If we only focus on forgiveness of sin we miss the best part.  The best part is life in Christ.  I pray that you greatly appreciate both aspects of what Jesus Christ has done for you if you have received Him as Savior and Lord.  He has freed you from sin and freed you to live new life…in Him.
