What Do You Wish For?

What do you wish for?  What do you hope for?  What would you like to see happen in your life?  The answer to that question might depend on Who you worship.  Let’s read Proverbs 11:23:

The desire of the righteous is only good,
But the expectation of the wicked is wrath.

This verse is another proverbial contrast.  God is saying that the desires of those who follow Him, those who are made righteous by faith in Him, are only good.  Yet, the expectation of the wicked is wrath.  I would assume that this applies to something beyond eternity.  The Bible also says that if we delight in the Lord He will give us the desire of our heart.  When we are in concert with the Lord, what He wants becomes what we want.  Our desires are only good.  Of course, there will be times when we slip into sin and our desires might not be good, but like most proverbs, I think God is speaking in general principles.

But what about the wicked?  Their expectation is wrath.  This is such a sobering thought.  No matter what they do, the judgment of God falls upon them.  Even the good things they think they do and/or desire, is tainted by sin.  There is no hope for the wicked.

This is a rather sobering little proverb…For those who know God through Jesus Christ, there is a wealth of opportunity and hope…but for those without God, the wicked (God’s definition not mine), there is no hope and only a sure future of judgment.

In wisdom,
Eric
