What Are You Full Of?
To get any bad thoughts out of your mind right away after reading the title lets read Ephesians 3:14-19 again: 14 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
All of us are full of something all of the time. Even when someone feels “empty” they are full of despair or loneliness. We are never truly empty. As we wrap up our look at this passage of scripture, we will end with what is one of the most amazing promises that we have. According to verse 19 we can be “filled with the fullness of God”. That is an amazing promise. But what does it mean? I’m not sure what it means exactly, and I also believe that being absolutely “full” with the fullness of God might not be something we can accomplish on this side of eternity, but it says something great about God that He would grant us the opportunity to be “full” of all that He is. We can be full of grace and truth and love and joy and peace and the list goes on and on…We can be full of qualities that not only benefit us but also all those around us.
Let’s make it a goal for this year to be full of God…Like an open container, make yourself available to Him and His activity. Make your time and your money and your thoughts available to be used by Him. This is way better than any alternative I can think of.
