What Abilities Do You Pray For?

When you pray for the ability to do something, what is that ability?  Students may pray for supernatural ability to remember information for a test.  Athletes may pray for ability to run fast or swing hard.  New parents may pray for the ability to function well on 4 hours of sleep. What abilities to you want God to give you?  Note what ability Paul is asking the Colossians to petition God on his behalf: Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving; meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains, that I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.”  Do you see it?  Paul is asking the Colossians to pray that God would open a door for Paul to be able to share the gospel of Jesus Christ.  I wonder if some of you have EVER prayed that for yourself?  Yet, sharing the gospel is perhaps the primary responsibility for Christians, as it is the first step to making disciples.  I don’t say this to make you feel bad but rather to help you to see what is very, very important to the heart of God. Please pray for God to open doors for you to share the gospel.  Paul did it while he was in prison.  I doubt we have any excuses that would match “incarceration”.  If you are uncomfortable sharing your faith or want to talk about how to do that, please contact me.  I can help. Please consider adding this to your prayer life.
