Tomorrow?

We close our section on worry with Matthew 6:34:  “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things.  Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”  One of Satan’s greatest weapons concerning worry is the word “tomorrow”.  Almost all of the things that we worry about are events that have yet to take place.  Various studies have been done in this area and one that I read recently said that 85% of the things that we worry about never come to pass.  Jesus hits this issue head on.

I used to worry a lot about tests as a child in school yet I almost always made an A on the test.  The facts of the situation; and what happened in the past, seemed to be ineffective in my struggle against worry.  But the relationship with God is absolutely vital in defeating worry about tomorrow.  A phrase that I have used often in my own mind is this:  “I do not know what tomorrow holds but I know Who holds tomorrow.”  This is very, very true for the child of God and the follower of Jesus.  God holds tomorrow.  God knows about tomorrow.  God has a plan for tomorrow.

Other parts of the Bible caution us about worrying about tomorrow.  Let’s live TODAY to the fullest for the glory of God.  We won’t be disappointed and we don’t have to worry about tomorrow…God’s got your back…even for the events that are still in front of you.
