The Word that Works

Paul begins a paragraph which speaks to the conversion of the Thessalonians and the “agent” of change is said to be the word of God.  Here is verse 13: “¹³ For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe.”   Do you understand that the word of God “works” in you?  The word of God is used by the Spirit of God to conform you to the image of Jesus.  The word of God is not the word of men.  It’s not a collection of interesting and sometimes inspiring writing from those who followed or knew Jesus or who knew those who followed Jesus. The word of God is in fact, the inspired word of God.  It is effective to work in those who believe.  Please continue to take in the word of God so that it can and will work in your life.  Allow the Holy Spirit to use the word of God to bring conviction and exhortation and comfort into your life.  You won’t regret it.
