That Sunrise Can Shout
It was pointed out to me that I had skipped Psalm 19 in our daily look at a psalm and so this morning we are going to go back and take care of that oversight. Psalm 19 is divided into two parts. The first half speaks of God’s “voice” in creation and the second half speaks to the perfectness of God’s law. Let’s focus on the first half. Look at what David writes in verses 1-4: The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. 2 Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge. 3 There is no speech nor language Where their voice is not heard. 4 Their line has gone out through all the earth, And their words to the end of the world. I think the Bible is pretty clear that God reveals Himself in creation. We can read that in many places and I think it is true. I think that the complexity and beauty of creation testify to just that…creation by a Creator. They don’t testify to evolution and chance. But notice verse 3: “There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard”. That’s a pretty powerful statement. That seems to indicate that wherever you look or whatever you see, you “hear” creation shouting at you or whispering to you about the glory of God. I “hear” it in the morning. I “hear” it on the beach. I “hear” it in the beautiful sunrises and sunsets that we experience in central PA. I hope that you hear it as well…and that you give praise and glory to the Creator!
