Seven Words to Change the World

Verse 14 of Philippians chapter 2 contains seven words that if followed would change the world. Here they are:  “Do all things without complaining and disputing”.  Think about how this would change our world and perhaps your world. I admit that there are not any great theological words in there…the words can apply to any particular religious philosophy but these words are so important.  Imagine if everyone did all things without complaining and disputing. What I think is assumed here is that you are going to “do it”…whatever “it” is.  This verse makes no judgment as to the validity or necessity of what is being done.  It simply speaks to the attitude that we all should have while we are doing what we are doing.  I mean, if we are going to do it, then do it with a humble and kind attitude.  I admit there have been many times when I’ve done something that I didn’t really want to do and I did it with an attitude of complaining.  The reaction that I see in others as they watch me do it reveals the damage that is done. My complaining and disputing removes the joy from the activity.  If I have to clean my room, but I do it with complaining and disputing, I might have a clean room but I will have “dirtied” the atmosphere with my complaining and disputing.  Try on this verse for a week.  Do all things without complaining and disputing.  I think you’ll like how it turns out.
