Saved, Seated and Shown

Ephesians 2:5-7 is where we are at today:  even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

After reminding us that we are dead in trespasses and sins Paul states that because of God’s great love and mercy He has made us alive together with Christ.  He has saved us from death and sin.  But then he writes that God has seated us together with Christ in the heavenly places.  Note the phrase “heavenly places” is one that Paul has already used a few times.  Then in verse 7 Paul writes that God can use our lives to show the exceeding riches of His grace.  In a real way we are saved, seated and shown.  We are trophies of the grace of God for all eternity.  I’m not exactly sure what this means.  I’m quite sure that we are not going to be simple trophy in a case but apparently God is going to use what He has done for us as a demonstration of His kindness toward us.  I’m not exactly sure all that being saved, seated and shown means for me…but sign me up!  Perhaps you could spend a few minutes reflecting on these words and how you see these words applying to your life right now.
