Put God to the Test

Those are not words that I normally use. It seems a bit arrogant for the creature to put the Creator to the test. But in Malachi chapter 3 God actually tells us to put Him to the test. Here it is in verse 10: Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it. In the days of the prophet Malachi the people were robbing God. Some didn’t understand that because the word “robbing” means to take something that isn’t yours. They weren’t robbing the temple or stealing money from the offering plate….or were they? You see everything that they had and we have belongs to God. God wants us to give the first of everything we have been given back to Him, and since it belongs to Him anyway, if we don’t do that, then we are in fact robbing God.

Give to your local church. Be engaged in a church that is engaging the world across the sea and across the street. Be financially a part of that effort. Put God to the test. When you give you will be blessed, financially but also in more ways than that. So many followers of Jesus will be so disappointed when their giving is evaluated before God…so much wasted opportunity. I encourage you that if you are not a planned, percentage giver, start now. Watch God keep His word. You won’t regret putting God to the test in the area of your finances.
