Peace…Always Peace

Today wraps up Paul’s second letter to the Thessalonians.  Tomorrow we are going to kick up the theology a notch as we start Romans.  Romans is not for the faint of heart but I’m excited about spending some time in it, verse by verse.

Here are the last verses of 2 Thessalonians: 16 Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way. The Lord be with you all.  17 The salutation of Paul with my own hand, which is a sign in every epistle; so I write.  18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.  I too often am tempted to skip over these endings of Paul’s letters but I’m not skipping over this one today.  The first sentence of verse 16 is pretty amazing…”May the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way.”  Is this really possible?  Yes, it is or I don’t think Paul would have written it.  God can give you and me peace in every situation and circumstance.  God can give peace in the midst of prosperity and adversity.  The reason this is possible is because God Himself lives within those who have received Jesus as Savior.  He is peace.  I pray that you would wish to receive God’s peace and live in the power of that peace in every way.
