Now That’s an Entrance!
Sometimes we read about important or famous people making a “grand entrance”. At a wedding reception there is often a special introduction and lots of cheering for the bride and groom’s entrance into the room. Though Jesus’ first entrance into the world wasn’t really noticed by very many people, and in the eyes of the world, wasn’t “grand” at all, His second entrance will be a lot different. We read about it in the last paragraph of 1 Thessalonians 4. 15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.
That’s a grand entrance. I don’t think I can even imagine what the shout, the voice and the trumpet will sound like, and then to visualize dead bodies coming out of the grave and others who are alive being lifted up in the air to meet Jesus as He returns is beyond my comprehension. But Paul says that the believer is to be comforted with these words. The suffering and trials of this life are “small potatoes” compared to the glory that this grand entrance will begin for those who know Christ. There won’t be a red carpet and paparazzi, but there will be Jesus and that’s what really matters! I hope you are ready for this grand entrance.
