Now That’s a Good Trade

If you are a sports fan you know that players are often traded. When trades are made the TV/internet is abuzz with whether or no the trade was a good trade. In reality, you can’t evaluate a trade for a few years. It takes a while before you really know if a trade was a good one or not. In 2 Corinthians 5 Paul mentions a trade that doesn’t take any time at all to evaluate. At the very end of the chapter he writes this: 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. The “trade” that God offers to each of us for Jesus to take our sin and for us to have His righteousness. Sin for righteousness…your sin…my sin…that brings judgment and damnation can be traded for the righteousness of God. And we don’t even have to throw in any extras to sweeten the deal.   Can you get a better trade than that? I don’t think so. Please notice that this trade is only available through Jesus Christ. There are no other “players” who are willing or able to trade their righteousness for your sin. I urge you…I beg you…to make this trade. Trade your sin for the righteousness of Christ. That’s a very good trade!
