No Luck

Have you ever heard anyone say, “I have no luck”.  If you’ve ever said that I have good news for you…your statement is 100% correct.  But even if you found a $20 bill on the ground or won the lottery (don’t recommend playing the lottery by the way), you still have “no luck”.  What is “luck”?  Is it some kind of force or energy that comes your way every now in some sort of haphazard way?  Can you bend this energy or force to your will by wearing the cut off foot of a dead rabbit (hopefully cleaned up a little bit) or by wearing green on a certain day in March?  Naahhh!  That doesn’t make sense.  Let’s read Proverbs 16:33 for a little clarity:

The lot is cast into the lap,
But its every decision is from the Lord.

Many decisions were made in the Old Testament times by the “lot”.  This “lot” took many forms but the idea was that however the lot came out it was under the sovereignty of God.  Now the process of the “lot” was only guaranteed to work if it was something that God told His people to do.  Simply casting lots for something didn’t guarantee that the outcome was the best that God had to offer.  If you want to wear a rabbit’s foot, that’s really none of my business; but I want you to know that there is no such thing as “luck”.  Every decision and every action is under the sovereign hand of God.  We should look to Him when we need help…and I think all the rabbits say…”AMEN”!

In wisdom,
Eric
