If God’s Been Faithful, Tell Someone

Psalm 89 is a rather lengthy psalm which seems to ask God to remember His covenant with David and laments God’s lack of blessing on His people because of their disobedience. Verses 5-10 speak to the power and majesty of God. But it is the first paragraph that I would like to write about this morning. Here it is: “I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever; With my mouth will I make known Your faithfulness to all generations. For I have said, “Mercy shall be built up forever; Your faithfulness You shall establish in the very heavens.” Can you identify with verse 1? If you have experienced the faithfulness of God can you tell someone about it? Advertising flourishes with the idea of “word of mouth”. When you buy a product that you like or hire someone that does a good job, you probably tell other people about the product or the person and recommend it or him/her to your friends…right? You want your friends to benefit from your experience. The same is true for the follower of a faithful God. If He’s been faithful, then I hope we would want to tell others about Him. Your testimony of God’s faithfulness to a family member or friend is much more meaningful than a pastor or a book or a podcast…because your friend knows you…and trusts you. Your experience carries validity and weight. Will you share it? Will you make known God’s faithfulness to the generations?
