Hi Philippians!

Today we begin a journey through Paul’s letter to the Philippians.  This is a letter to Christians in the city of Philippi.  You can read about some of Paul’s events in Philippi in chapter 16 of the book of Acts.  A really interesting part of the Philippi story is that Paul ended up there because of a vision that he saw where a man was telling him to come to Macedonia.  God evidently had something for Paul to do there.  We don’t know exactly how long Paul was there, but it doesn’t appear to be a long time.  And as usual, Paul was driven out of the city because of the impact the gospel was making there.  Let’s begin with the first couple of verses:  “Paul and Timothy, bondservants of Jesus Christ,  To all the saints in Christ Jesus who are in Philippi, with the bishops and deacons: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.”  This is a standard greeting that Paul used in many of his letters.  Paul is with his friend Timothy and we also know that Paul is in prison as he writes this letter.  Again, he’s not in prison for committing any crime but rather because he is preaching the gospel.  I don’t have much to say today.  I encourage you to read the letter to the Philippians.  I also hope that you are experiencing “grace and peace” from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.  I hope you’ll join us through our verse by verse look at Paul’s letter to the Philippians.
