Good Fruit/Bad Fruit

Yesterday I wrote about the fact that we are slaves either way, either slaves to sin or slaves to righteousness.  Paul goes on to remind us that the outcomes of the two types of slavery are very different. Here is what he writes:  20 For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. 21 What fruit did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. 22 But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life.  The fruit produced by being a slave to sin is definitely bad fruit.  Most of us can list some bad fruit that we produced by being a slave to sin.  And then that fruit ends in death; even when are seduced by the temptation that serving sin is “really living”; the truth is that serving sin leads to eternal death. But the opposite is true for those who are slaves to God.  Our fruit now is good fruit. and in the end, everlasting life.  I thank God that I have an opportunity to bear good fruit.  I don’t always take advantage of the opportunities that are given to me by God, but as my Master, He provides those opportunities for my good and His glory.  If you are a slave to God, keep allowing Him to produce good fruit in you.  Share that fruit with others.  Keep bearing that fruit until your days are over…and then you get everlasting life…and I’m guessing that heavenly fruit never spoils.
