God the Deliverer

Psalm 18 is the longest psalm we have read so far. It contains a lot of David’s thoughts about how God delivered him from the hand of king Saul (though Saul is not mentioned in the psalm). There were many circumstances in David’s life that could have led him to believe that God would not deliver him. He was being chased by Saul for no reason…nothing that David had done wrong. But David never seemed to lose sight of God’s protection. Yes, he did despair and his emotions seemed to get the best of him at times but he always came back to faith and trust in God. If you have time, slowly read through Psalm 18 and put yourself in David’s sandals. I hope you will feel the same way about God that David did.
