God and the Nations
In Psalm 9 David reminds us that God is in control. This psalm reminds me a little of psalm 2 where David reminds the kings of the earth that they will be judged by God. When we read and watch of dictators, rulers and governments that oppress the people and “flex” their muscles we know that none of this takes place outside of the sight of God. God is not surprised, perplexed or fearful due to “saber rattling”. David also writes that the Lord will be a refuge for the oppressed. There are clearly oppression and bad governments in our world today. It seems that North Korea is in the news every day. But God is still in control. Some of the deliverance that David promises will not happen until the end of time. God doesn’t step in and right every wrong on earth. God doesn’t deliver all the oppressed in this life from suffering and even death. But God does offer eternal deliverance through Jesus Christ. God is above the nations. He does not let sin go unpunished. I praise Him for that and I hope you do as well.
