Future Glory

In chapter 40 of Ezekiel, God gives Ezekiel a vision of a heavenly temple, a place where the glory of the Lord dwells. This was in the 25th year of the captivity of the people. I can only imagine what the mood of the people was in the 25th year of their captivity. It couldn’t have been very positive. But God gave Ezekiel a vision of future glory. This principle is so important. The follower of Jesus has future glory. No matter how bad things are here, there is the promise of future glory. I think this really rings true for our brothers and sisters in Christ who are facing real persecution, the kind that is far more severe than not having cell service. They need to be reminded of the future glory that awaits them. This future glory can be motivation to persevere and do the difficult things.

This principle can work for us to as we go through difficult times in our lives. We have a future glory; far better than anything we can experience on this earth and in this life. There is a phrase that goes like this, “he is so heavenly minded, he is no earthly good”. I don’t agree with that phrase. When my mind is focused properly on my future glory, I am best qualified to do good and to be good here on earth.
