Ever Tried “Life”?

I think that’s a valid question.  Have you ever tried “Life”?  Many of you remember the old Life cereal commercial with a boy named “Mikey”.   The commercial opens with two boys staring at a bowl of Life cereal.  One boy says, “What is it?”  The second boy says, “Some cereal, it’s supposed to be good for you”.  Those two boys go back and forth about trying the cereal and then one says, “Let’s give it to Mikey”.  The other boy says that Mikey won’t eat it, that he hates everything.  The bowl is pushed before Mikey and he eats it.  Mikey likes Life cereal.  (here’s the web address if you want to be a little nostalgic:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34wJt3pRY0w)

This is one of my all time favorite commercials.  Yet, it has a very interesting truth.  Many people in our world have never really tried Life.  Maybe they haven’t tried it because they’ve heard that “it’s supposed to be good for you”.  Maybe they haven’t tried real “Life” because they don’t know anyone else who’s living it.  Maybe they haven’t tried “Life” because they don’t think they’ll like how it “tastes”.  Whatever the reason, if they tasted it, perhaps they would really like it, like Mikey.

Could you be one of the “they”’s I was just referring to?  What have you got to lose by really trying to live “Life”, the life that Jesus Christ intended for you?  You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.  Come and join with us at Buffalo Valley Church of the Brethren as we move through this series of messages, or just keep following the blog, perhaps picking up the Bible and reading Matthew chapters 5 through 7.  Try it….you might like it!
