Ever Think About the High Cost of Sin?

Many of you know that I am in the process of purchasing a home.  The closing is set for Friday morning.  Many of you have experienced the hassle of trying to verify your income and providing documentation for deposits and withdrawals for several months.  The company I’m working with now was asking me to identify deposits as small as $160 that I made two or three months ago.  On my way into work this morning I remembered that I have to call my bank in NY and have them send a copy of an insurance check that I received. Uggggghhhh!!!!

Why do we have to do this?  It is because of sin.  Think about it.  The only reason the mortgage company has to verify all of this information is because people will lie about their information.  If there was no lying, there would be no need to verify.  This is so true in other areas as well.  We wouldn’t need car keys if there was no sin; no one would ever wrongfully take or steal someone else’s car.  Think about how much less car insurance and health insurance would be if no one ever drove under the influence of drugs or alcohol or if people did not engage in sinful behaviors which often drive up the cost of all kinds of insurance.  Sin is a very costly endeavor.

I’m glad that Jesus Christ paid the price for our sin for eternity…but unfortunately He can’t call the mortgage company for me or pay my car insurance.  But one day…..one glorious day, whether through His return to earth or through our physical death, we will enter into a realm where we won’t need car keys or insurance or any other type of security because we will be safe in the arms of Jesus.  Revelation 21:4 says:  And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”  This is what life will be like without sin, as we spend eternity in the presence of Jesus.  What a day that will be!!!!
