Don’t Neglect Jesus’ Message

In Hebrews 2 the writer continues to talk about the supremacy of Jesus over the Old Testament or old covenant ways. Another way to say this is that Jesus is the perfect fulfillment of the old covenant, a fulfillment that brings new meaning and purpose. But there is a danger in neglecting the message of Jesus Christ. We read this in the beginning of the second chapter: Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away. For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward, how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him, God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will? One aspect of what the writer is saying is that if angels spoke things and they proved to be true, we can be assured that whatever Jesus spoke is even “more true” and more important. The particular emphasis here is on salvation. It is a dangerous thing to “neglect” the salvation message offered by Jesus. Jesus often called people to believe in Him. The apostles understood this and repeated the salvation message over and over in their writings which we have in the New Testament.

I hope you have received and believed the salvation message of Jesus. Jesus is the only way to salvation, forgiveness of sin and eternal life. Don’t neglect it. If you have any questions, please message me. It is the most important issue of life.
