Do You REALLY Believe This About Prayer?

One of the greatest promises in the Bible is contained in Philippians chapter 4, verses 6-7.   Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Do we really believe this? Do we really believe that peace can come through prayer, regardless of how the prayer is answered? Please note that in this promise there is no mention of how the prayer is answered; yes, no or wait.

Why do so many who claim to follow Jesus worry so much? Is there another answer other than we simply don’t pray? Will we as followers of Jesus simply decide that whatever answer God gives us is good enough for us…and stop worrying and fretting? Will we allow the peace of God to fill us and to guard our hearts and minds? Or will we simply not believe that what God promises here is true…and not pray at all..or not be willing to receive God’s answer to prayer. Could it really by that the reason some (perhaps you) might be worrying is because some (perhaps you) are not bothering to pray?  Trust in this promise from a loving, all powerful, all knowing God.
