Divine Power in Human Form

Colossians 2:9-10 read like this:  For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; 10 and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.”  The context tells us that “Him” is referring to Jesus.  One of the most interesting and marvelous aspects of Christianity is the incarnation of Jesus Christ.  As God, fully God, completely God, Jesus was also fully and completely human.  In Jesus dwells all the “fullness” of the Godhead in a human body.  I can’t explain that but I don’t think I need to explain it…I just need to accept it as revealed truth from God.  Jesus is divine power and presence in a human form.  And then the next sentence is equally as remarkable.  Paul writes that those who are in Christ are “complete” in Him.  This too is a remarkable statement.  Fallen, sinful, selfish people like you and me who are very much incomplete and broken on our own, are made complete…perfect…whole…in Jesus. The One who is the Head of all principality and power, the ruler of the universe, makes you and me complete. Wow!  What is now available to each of us in Christ is to live in the power of Christ…to forgive in the power of Christ…to witness in the power of Christ…to love in the power of Christ.  It’s all available to us.  Many New Year resolutions have to do with generating new power on your own to make good choices and decisions.  How about deciding to live out in the perfection that is Christ?  How about allowing Him to live through you in 2019?
