Did You Know You Needed Peace with God?

Have you ever had a conflict with someone that you didn’t know about?  They were not at peace with you when you thought that everything was fine between the two of you?  I think we’ve all experienced that.  I think these kinds of situations usually arise over poor communication and/or misunderstandings.  I think this is true in the spiritual world.  Because of bad teaching/communication and spiritual misunderstanding, I think many people think that they are at peace with God when in fact, they are not.  Having talked about justification by faith, Paul writes this in verses 1-2 of Romans 5:  “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”   I know that I write about this a lot but that is simply a reflection of the fact that God talks about it a lot in His revelation to us.  When we are justified by faith, we now have peace with God through Jesus. Does that make any sense unless we were originally NOT at peace with God?  I don’t think so.  Without being justified through Jesus Christ we are not at peace with God.  In fact, we are in opposition to Him.  I think many people misunderstand this, especially if all they have been taught about God is devoid of the idea of judgment of sin. Anyway, we are promised not only peace with God but also “access” into His grace.  I get pretty excited about the notion of having access with God.  God is with me wherever I go and always has my best interests in mind.  I can rejoice in the hope of the glory of God, even if I can’t figure out exactly what is going to happen next.  That’s a great fact and a great feeling.  Do you have peace with God through Jesus Christ?  If so, you have access to His grace and His glory.  Sounds like a great idea to me!
