Dancing With THE Star
We are 20% through the book of Psalms today. I’m excited to continue with you and to keep reading and meditating on God’s word. Many people watch the hit television show, “Dancing with the Stars”. The idea is that an actor or sports personality or otherwise famous person, a “star”, is paired with a professional dancer. If I understand the premise, the professional dancer has the task of taking the untrained dancer and making their dancing look good. Then the couples are judged against one another. Surprisingly, I have never received an invitation to participate!
Anyway, in Psalm 30 David is talking about the blessings of God in his life, and how God has heard him and been there for him. David has a confidence in God that God will do what is needed to provide for David, even in difficult times. In verse 11 David writes, “You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, 12 To the end that my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever.” God turned David’s mourning into dancing. David is dancing with THE Star, God. I think God wants to dance with us through life. Yes, there will be times of mourning, struggling and stepping on toes, but God truly desires to be the professional dancer and will work with us to make an important team. We need not worry if we are better dancers than someone else, rather, that we will give thanks to our Partner. Are you allowing God to turn your mourning into dancing?
