Confidence That God Hears You

How confident are you that God hears you when you speak to Him? In Psalm 17 David seems to be pretty confident. Here is what he writes: I have called upon You, for You will hear me, O God; Incline Your ear to me, and hear my speech. Show Your marvelous lovingkindness by Your right hand, O You who save those who trust in You From those who rise up against them. Keep me as the apple of Your eye; Hide me under the shadow of Your wings, From the wicked who oppress me,From my deadly enemies who surround me. David didn’t always have this level of confidence that God heard him but in this psalm he writes with confidence. I believe that we can have confidence that God hears us when we call. What does it mean that God “hears you”? First, it means that you are never alone. You are never isolated from God. He is never out of earshot. He can always hear you. Second, since He hears you He always understands you. Some people might hear your words but they don’t understand what you are saying. That’s never the case with God. Third, God will do what He needs to do in your life. Sometimes people might be able to hear us but they can’t do anything about it. That’s never the case with God. David knows that God can protect him because God hears him. The same is absolutely true for you. You can be confident that you are never alone or isolated. God hears. So go ahead and cry out to Him.   Bring Him into all the aspects of your life. You won’t be disappointed.
