Closing Words
Often the closing words of a biblical book of the Bible are referred to as a “benediction” and are repeated at the end of a service or ceremony. The words at the end of Romans are not used as a benediction by many but the words are still significant. Here are verses 25-27: “Now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery kept secret since the world began 26 but now made manifest, and by the prophetic Scriptures made known to all nations, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, for obedience to the faith— 27 to God, alone wise, be glory through Jesus Christ forever. Amen.” I really like the word “establish” in verse 25. Would you consider yourself to be “established” according to the gospel of Jesus Christ? I hope that you would. It is such a privilege and joy to rest on the faithful words of the Bible, words that are inspired and able to establish us in the faith. These words are “according to the commandment of an everlasting God.” God never changes. He is never surprised. His words are able to establish you no matter your situation or circumstances. Will you believe them and trust in the One who gave those words to you? I pray that you will.
