Bigger Than Your Imagination!

One of my favorite songs is titled, “Bigger than my imagination” which describes the magnitude and majesty of God. Is your God bigger than your imagination? Can your God do things that are way beyond you or anyone else? At the end of Ephesians chapter 3 Paul writes: 20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Paul writes that God is able to do “exceedingly above all that we ask or think”. I can think of some pretty amazing things can’t you? And yet Paul writes that God can do way more than I can think of…hmmm…and yet there is that last phrase, “according to the power that works in us”. What does this mean? I believe this rules out leaping tall buildings in a single bound or running faster than a locomotive. But it doesn’t rule out forgiveness…or justice…or compassion…or evangelism. But do we even “think of these things”? I don’t think Paul has in mind superhero type feats when he writes this. I think he has in mind more basic things, that without the power of God, often go undone. What kinds of things do you want God to do in your life or the lives of those you love…I think He can do them…but are we asking??? Do you believe that your God is bigger than your imagination?
