Better Than Superglue

I am fairly amazed by superglue. I know the science behind glue but that doesn’t make it any easier for me to understand it. I am amazed at how quickly and how powerfully the bonds are formed. When I use superglue I often end up gluing something together that I don’t want and it is impossible to separate the two things I’ve mistakenly glued together.  When I was reading the eighth chapter of Romans I was reminded of superglue. The eighth chapter of Romans contains some amazing promises regarding what God has for His children. Perhaps none is more amazing than what we read in verses 38-39: 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

God’s love is like superglue. When we trust in Jesus Christ as Savior, the love of God is placed into us and there is a bond that is formed between us and God. From then on, nothing can separate us. Yes, it is true that God loves everyone; but just like superglue in a tube, that love doesn’t form the bond until it is released into the hearts of individuals. God has a general love for everyone but a “superglue” bond of love for those who trust in Jesus. And once the love of God is applied to your life, you are “stuck” with the love of God….you can’t be separated from it. Nothing can separate you from God’s love.
