Bad Wife…Good Wife

Let’s read Proverbs 19:13-14:

A foolish son is the ruin of his father,
And the contentions of a wife are a continual dripping.  14 Houses and riches are an inheritance from fathers,
But a prudent wife is from the Lord.

Two different kinds of wives are mentioned here in Proverbs 19:13-14.  Now, since my wife is so AWESOME, I wouldn’t know from personal experience the words mentioned in verse 13.  But I can imagine that a contentious wife would be as annoying as a dripping faucet.  I have experienced a dripping faucet, a noise that is not loud but it aggravating.  Wives, I believe this verse speaks to nagging.  I know that men can nag also; but the focus is pretty much on you here.   Consistent criticism will do real damage to your husband.  It will make him feel disrespected and it will deflate his spirit.

On the other hand, a prudent wife is better than houses and riches!  A wife who is wise in the Lord is far more valuable than any material possession in this world.  I know that to be true from experience.

Ladies, pray that God will assist you in the “good wife” part and men, pray for your wife and/or other wives you know.

In wisdom,
Eric
