Back to the Wicked Again
Psalm 94 takes us back to the writer asking for God to judge the wicked. You might remember me commenting about how I was getting a little tired of this theme about 20 psalms ago. This morning as I thought about this my thoughts turned to my brothers and sisters in Nigeria who are suffering incredible persecution. I thought of the Christians in places like Syria and Iraq that have suffered loss of life or who have been made refugees because of their faith. I believe that these people can take great solace from psalms like Psalm 94. I know that when the psalms were written, at a time when the people of Israel were often being overrun by their enemies, God knew that in 2017 His people would be suffering around the world. I may not experience the things I read about today but there are many who do and I trust that God knows the needs of His people better than I do. So this morning I pray that somewhere in this world, many of God’s people who are being “crushed” for their faith in Him, will read Psalm 94 and be encouraged that “But the Lord has been my defense, and my God the rock of my refuge. 23 He has brought on them their own iniquity, And shall cut them off in their own wickedness; The Lord our God shall cut them off” Would you spend a few minutes today praying for the persecuted church and asking God to meet their needs?
