I want to slow down a little as we continue through Romans so just a verse and a half today. Yesterday we read that real righteousness comes through faith in Jesus Christ.  It’s the righteousness of Jesus that we need, not our own righteousness.  “24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness”,  We are justified by the grace of God as the death of Christ has appeased the wrath of God.  That’s what “propitiation” means.  It’s not appeasement in a selfish or anger-filled way.  But as Paul writes in Ephesians, by nature, before Christ, we are “children of wrath”.  God’s judgment rests on us because of our sin.  What a wonderful thing to understand how Christ’s death on the cross provides a way for us to escape that judgment and enter into a relationship with the living God.  God is pleased when He is able to offer us salvation and to appease His wrath.  Have you received Jesus Christ as your “propitiation”?  You don’t even have to know how to spell it for it to work for you!
