Ever wonder why so many other religions create idols and statues that focus on animals? If you research this, you will find out that many pagan religions have images of deities that are animals…ever wonder why? Romans 1:22-23 provides the answer: “22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.” If you read the previous verses you will see that those who are “professing to be wise” are those who have suppressed the truth about God that has been revealed to them. The worship of animals and images of animals simply but sadly flows from man’s desire to change the glory of God to something that man can manage and often manipulate. Those who profess wisdom are actually foolish and the glory that should have been given to God is given to animals or false gods in the shape of animals; and all of this is made perfectly clear in God’s word. I wonder if there are any aspects of your life where you have exchanged the glory that God is due for something or someone else? God desires to receive glory from us and He’s rather jealous about that. I pray that you give God the glory He desires and deserves.
