All Things Work Together for Good

One more blog post from Romans 8. This chapter has so much incredible information that we could spend a month on it but today is the last post on this chapter.   We have an incredible promise at the end of the chapter in verse 28: 28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. 29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified. The idea that all things work together for good, a promise made to those who love God, is intended to be a very comforting and reassuring truth. It doesn’t’ say that “all things are good” but that all things work together for good. Verses 29-30 provide the reinforcement for this promise. Whatever is happening in our lives happens in a linear pattern. We can only see one minute at a time…but God knows the beginning from the end. God knows how to weave the threads of our lives into a tapestry. Those that God has called, He has already glorified. We can’t see that but God can. Therefore we can be confident that even the difficult things that happen do not mean that God has lost control or that things have gotten out of hand. We can also trust that since God knows the end from the beginning, that difficult things are often a necessary part of the final “good” that God has planned.

This promise is one that really can help you every day as you navigate your life. As life inevitably goes in ways that we would not have planned, we can be confident that even the bad things will truly work out for good.
