All Part of the Plan…

In Matthew 1:22-23 Matthew writes this:  22 So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: 23 “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”  These were not the words from the angel but they were added by Matthew for his reader then and for us today to help us to know that this birth, as unusual as it was, was all part of the plan.  The words that Matthew quotes are from the prophet Isaiah.

Though this supernatural birth was definitely not part of Mary’s plan or Joseph’s plan, it was always a part of God’s plan.  The prophet Isaiah wrote more than 700 years before the birth of Jesus.  I’m glad to worship and serve a God who has a plan…and though I might not know or understand the plan, I know a God who does understand the plan.  Plus, this God cannot provide a plan for me that is anything less than His best for me.

When you face uncertain times, even difficult times, will you agree with Joseph that it is all part of the plan?  Will you trust God that He has a plan?  God may not have written about your life more than 700 years ago in any specific detail; but He still knows all of the details of the plan that He has for you…and you can trust Him.
