A Great Way to Start the Day
There are a lot of people out there with some really good advice as to how to start your day. Start your day with a good breakfast. Start your day with exercise. I suppose many of you start your day with coffee…not sure about the other two. Did you know that God has some advice for how to start your day…without calories and caffeine? In Psalm 5 we read this in the first few verses: Give ear to my words, O Lord, Consider my meditation. 2 Give heed to the voice of my cry, My King and my God, For to You I will pray. 3 My voice You shall hear in the morning, O Lord; In the morning I will direct it to You, And I will look up.
A great way to start the day is with God. I believe that if we begin our day in God’s word and in prayer we are setting ourselves up to succeed. Starting the day with God seems to help set the tone for the day. It gives God access to our thoughts first thing in the morning, which I think helps us to be attentive to His direction and leading from the beginning of the day. There are lots of ways and times to spend time with God. Some people do prefer the evening. When I spend time with God in the evening I often find myself sleeping! I’m not here to tell you when to spend time with God. I am here to suggest that the morning is the best time and the time that for many people, offers the most consistency. Don’t be concerned about saying “Good Morning” to America until you’ve said “Good morning” to God. I don’t think George Stephanopoulos or any of the other morning show hosts will really care. If you’d like some ideas of how to get started in the morning, message me. I’m here to help.
